Hi everyone, thanks for joining me on the mat today. I’m going to take you through a pretty standard practice I do before I go riding my horse. I absolutely love horseback riding but unfortunately it has created a lot of tension and stiffness in my lower body. It’s important to stretch before and after each ride!
This is an all levels yoga class which will work on opening up your hips and shoulders while stretching deeply through your quads, calves and hamstrings. We’ll have a few low back and upper back stretches as well to make this a well rounded yoga flow. No props needed!
I do very low level dressage and jumping but really this is a great sequence for riding of any kind!
I plan on filming a lot more yoga for equestrian classes in the future, hopefully this Summer when I can do it in the pasture with all the horses present 🙂
I don’t ride a horse, but I do ride a motorcycle. That counts, right? 😉
Of course
Great for bicyclists too!!
Exactly!
I dont ride but I’m here for anything that stretches and strengthens my hips. Thank you.
Yes!!!
Great stretches, my legs were sore and now feel so much better. I guess this is a good general pre workout stretch as well 🙂 I would love to go riding again, but our Chevy, an old Quarter horse passed on a bit ago. I can so understand your joy with your horse. 🙂
Oh im so sorry for your loss 🙁
Im riding my bike today!
Also very nice before a run!
That was super intense on my feet and ankles. I don’t ride, but I do bouldering and the climbing shoes and impact make my feet incredibly tight. This might become a regular practice for me 🙂 Thanks for putting it together!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh nice! Glad to hear it helped you out
I really enjoyed this practice. I am not an equestrian but an avid bicycle rider. Any alterations or additions you would recommend?
This one is great for cyclists as well!
I do ride a horse and this is brilliant for preparing the aging joints!!!
Glad you enjoyed
