Overview

Forgiveness is a touchy subject and one that is greatly misunderstood. Forgiving others for the wrong they have done to us does not mean that we think what they did it’s okay, we just understand that we are all imperfect beings and we make the choice to move forward in our lives. Holding onto grudges and resentment only hurts us and not the person who wronged us. To forgive others is to give ourselves permission to stop hurting ourselves in the present for something that was done in the past. The other side of this is learning to forgive ourselves. The key to this is acknowledging that we are all perfectly imperfect beings doing the best we can. We’ve all wronged someone at some point in our life and mulling over that shame and guilt will not recreate the past. Forgiving ourselves for our shortcomings is the only way to move forward in life and find peace.
