Overview

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me in this new 45 minute yin yoga class to improve flexibility through the inner thighs. This targets the groin, inner leg and adductors which is linked with the kidney meridian. This is a great class to do if you’re also working on middle splits.

We can hold a lot of tension in this part of our bodies and especially since I’ve started horseback riding I’ve noticed how stiff the inner thighs can get. I’m using a small bolster for this practice but you can easily substitute it with some blocks or pillows. This is an intermediate yin yoga class.

What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose

Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga! Blocks, bolsters and straps are all great ways to support your body to make sure you are respecting your edge and not going too far.

Could you record this in the ‘minimal clues’ version, please…?

    • Kassandra Reinhardt

Hey Viktoria, sorry im not sure what you mean exactly? Like add this video to the minimal cues playlist here in the app?

    • Viktoria Dorosz

I meant ‘less talking’ but didn’t want to seem rude 🙂 I.e. the same set of exercises, but with minimal commentary/explanations etc.

Easing into this practice after a weekend of intense dancing and dance teaching, I felt all the stored sensations melt into my mat. Lovely deep practice…my adducters especially thank you 💛

    • Kassandra

Oh yes!! Love to hear this

  3. Diane Wetzel

Thanks, Kassandra! I really enjoyed this practice. This is an area I feel I neglect, especially the inner hip rotations and adductors. Great to have a practice devoted to address these areas. I feel much looser now.

    • Kassandra

Inner rotation is very often neglected, not many poses do it

    • Kassandra

Yay! Have a great rest of the day

  5. Alexandre Lefebvre

Perfect ! It would be very nice to have the same sequence for the upper body. Thank you !

    • Kassandra

I’m assuming what you meant to say was a yin sequence for the upper body as this sequence is low body focused – try using the filter function and select yin and upper body. There are 17 classes with those parameters.

That was just what I needed! My whole lower body is sore from other workouts and gardening. I had a massage earlier and plan to take a bath this evening. A perfect combination! Thank you for all you do. ❤

Yin yoga for me after a long time! I really enjoyed it! Could we have some yin sequence for the upper body? Namaste 🙏🙏

    • Kassandra

There is some in there, use the filter function and select yin and upper body to find them

Love that internal rotation. Used blanket for the frog to pad knees which was helpful

    • Kassandra

Yes! Internal rotation is so under done. And yes pad those knees
